Robert Hoopes

Robert Marion Hoopes, 62, was born in Ogden, Utah on April 10, 1960 and passed away suddenly on April 30, 2022 at University Hospital located in Aurora, Colorado. Robert was son to Lynn and Mable Hoopes and grew up in Hyrum, Utah where he graduated high school. On May 26, 1978, at the age of 18, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. Robert valued his service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the Army, Robert was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado three times. He was stationed in Uijeongbu, South Korea in 1979 where he met and married his soulmate, Pok Sun Cho. They were married on June 2, 1980. In November 1981 Robert and Pok’s first child, Elric Cho (40), was born in Newport News, Virginia. In March 1983 their second and third children, Lora Jean (39) and Joyce Mable (39) were born on Langley Air Force base located in Hampton, Virginia.  Robert continued his service with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1985 to 1989. After Germany, he was stationed at Fort Carson once again until he left the U.S. Army on June 9, 1992.  In 1990, Robert and his family settled in Fountain, Colorado. During his service, Robert served as a Tank Turret Repairer and a Watercraft Engineer where he fortified his love of tanks. Throughout Robert’s life, he had found a fondness of building and motorizing WWII replica model tanks.  Post Army service, Robert pursued his degree and received his Associate of Applied Science in Networking Technology in May 2004 from Pikes Peak Community College. He went on to work in careers in leadership, organization, and problem solving.      Robert M. Hoopes is survived by his wife, Pok Hoopes; his three children, Elric Hoopes, Lora Hoopes, and Joyce Hoopes; two grandchildren, Valphalia Hoopes (17) and Miya Hoopes (15); his sister, Hilani Woodward; his brother, Sean Riley; and his aunt, Jean Johns. Robert’s loved ones remember him as wonderful, kind, thoughtful, and hardworking. He was a dedicated husband and loving father, and one of the most genuine people who believed our lives are best lived when helping others. Robert’s family would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff at Memorial Central Hospital and University Hospital for the care they provided Robert presiding his untimely passing.  Graveside Service honoring the life of Robert M. Hoopes will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, June 3, 2022, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
