Delane R. Turner died at his home, Feb 1, 1999.
Funeral services were held at noon Thursday, Feb 4, 1999 at the Hyrum Stake Center. Interment was held in the Hyrum Cemetery.
He was born in Afton on Nov 14, 1959. The family moved to North Logan in 1962 and that is where Delane grew up. From the beginning, Delane was someone who possessed a creative mind. He was always building, inbenting and creating things, especially through his artwork. He loved nature and spent a lot of time up the canyon hiking, drawing and listening to music. He loved and was gifted in music. He could play many instruments but he especially loved the trumpet which he played in the jazz band at Sky View High School. He introduced music to his children and they have carried on that love for music.
While attending Sky View High School he met his sweetheart, Sheryl Zeller, and they were married Dec 6, 1979. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Delane attended college at Utah State University and majored in the love of this life aeronautics. From the time he could walk he loved airplanes. From homemade paper airplanes to remote control and then to the real planes, he flew them all. He graduated form USU in Aeronautical engineering and got a job at Kikorsky Aircraft, Connecticut, He was able to have his hand in building the world's largest helicopter, the LH 53 E and the coolest helicopter, the Commanche. It was here that he was living his dream.
With extensive cutbacks after the Gulf war and tried of eastern culture, he moved his family back to Cache Valley and worked in the research and development department at ICON. He he was bale to use his creativity again.
Delane suffered from chronic back pain from an accident he had just after he graduated from high school. He also was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He is finally free from pain.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his children, Cody Matthew, 18, Christy Angela, 17, and Jennifer Lee 11 , his mother, Wanda turner and his brothers and sisters, Verlene Landon, Dale turnerr, Larry Turner, Lana Brangal and Lee Kinsford.
He was preceded in death by his father Louis Turner, who died Jan 16, 1998
