Kelly Porter

Kelly Floyd Porter, 57

Dec. 4, 1959 — Jan. 24, 2017

Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Kelly, passed away unexpectedly at home on Jan. 24, 2017.

Kelly was born in Preston, Idaho, on Dec. 4, 1959, to Floyd and Ramona Porter, and was raised in Lewiston, Utah, with his four sisters. Kelly enjoyed scouting and spending summers at his grandparents’ farm while growing up, two loves that stayed with him through his life.

Kelly was no stranger to hard work, he worked for Battery Systems for more than 25 years, and was loved by all of his customers and coworkers. He was an incredibly generous and giving man who also served as a volunteer for the Post Falls Fire Department, and later served as a Boy Scout Pack Leader and District Commissioner, earning the Silver Beaver Award.

Kelly met his loving wife, Sharon, at the farm, and they were married on Aug. 29, 1981. They lived in Post Falls, Idaho, from 1981 to 2013, until they moved to their dream property and started their own farm. When he was not working or serving others, Kelly enjoyed caring for their animals and maintaining their vehicles. He was an avid snowmobiler, and enjoyed four-wheeling and being outdoors. He was an expert in the art of teasing, his boisterous laugh will truly be missed and will forever echo in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon; children Amanda, 32 (Jonathan) and Stephen, 27 (Tina); and siblings Rochelle Owen and Sondra Spicker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ramona Porter; sisters Drenda and Sheila; grandparents and many other beloved family members.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.
